The Story So Far:

Sign Our Declaration:

Worship, in public and in community, is an essential part of the human right to freedom of religion. This right is inherent and affirmed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

During this difficult year, many have turned to rely on the hope of their faith. However, in a number of countries, the right to worship was denied for extended periods due to disproportionate and unlawful bans on church services and even private prayer.

Meanwhile, places of business such as supermarkets and bicycle shops were allowed to open with safety measures in place, but not churches.

We believe the state is not entitled to pick and choose ‘favourites’ when it comes to deciding what is essential. Freedom of religion is a fundamental right. Governments the world over have failed to advance compelling reasons to explain why vulnerable people cannot be protected by churches employing the same safety measures as governments allow in commercial venues.

Churches are essential. They are a source of hope and comfort, especially in a time of crisis.
Let us worship.
